He says these are “my twin steam engines, Beavis and Butt-Head. They are Wig-Wag Steam Engines designed by Ade Swash in the UK.”
To build them, he used a variety of metals including: 1018 steel (base), 6061 Aluminum (upright and cylinder), 12L14 steel (big end, flywheel and crank disc), 303 stainless steel (rods, shafts, and pins), 932 bronze (bearings), C360 brass (tension nut, piston, cylinder cap, steam tubes)

WHAT YOU’RE SAYING
“Speedy Metals has been great for odd metals in about any size. Nice to be able to buy small amounts and not have to leave the shop to scour a supplier and roll the dice.”

DID YOU KNOW...?
...that scientists have invented unsinkable aluminum?

Researchers at the University of Rochester's Institute of Optics have developed a technique that can make aluminum tubes virtually unsinkable.
It works by etching the inside of the tube to create nanoscale pits, which makes the surface super hydrophobic and able to trap stable pockets of air which keep the tube afloat no matter how many holes are drilled into it.
The lead researcher says, "We tested them in some really rough environments for weeks at a time and found no degradation to their buoyancy […] You can poke big holes in them, and we showed that even if you severely damage the tubes with as many holes as you can punch, they still float."
