CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT
This month we’re featuring a project by customer Jordan Waraksa. He built this counter-height chair he calls THE SIG CHAIR out of white oak and brass from Speedy Metals.

He describes it as a “steam-bent, counter-height chair that employs both traditional wood joinery and proprietary threaded brass rod joinery”.

WHAT YOU’RE SAYING
“Just ordered a sheet of 304 stainless steel cut to tolerances of .005 of an inch. I measured 5 times before I ordered online last night. Just picked it up today before lunch and it fits perfectly! I could not be happier with the price or the quality of cut. It is 12 gauge and has no blueing or bending what so ever. Great Job Guys!!!!”

DID YOU KNOW...?
...that researchers have invented a new technique to pinpoint where pitting corrosion begins?

Aluminum alloys have high corrosion resistance, and this, combined with their light weight, makes them popular for use in transportation equipment.
However, they do suffer from a process called “pitting corrosion” especially in the presence of salt, and as those of us here in the Midwest can tell you, transportation equipment is definitely exposed to salt in the winter!
Now, researchers at Tohoku University have developed a way to prevent the visual “noise” caused by the discoloration of other metallic compounds in the aluminum alloy, which makes it much easier to see the pits as they form.
This is the first step in learning how to prevent this process altogether.
