CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT

This month we're featuring a project by Robert Weitkamp: a 6"x48" belt sander.

He says: "My biggest project ever was to design a 6”x48” belt sander from scratch. It took well over a year to build and had dozens of redesigns.

It has a custom 3D printed dust collection system and a unique belt tensioning mechanism. It was made mostly from aluminum tooling plate. "

DID YOU KNOW...?

...that researchers have developed a way to view friction at the atomic level?

This advance could lead to new lubricants and surface materials that would extend the life of mechanical systems.

Using a high-resolution transmission electron microscope, the researchers were able, for the first time, to actually view the movement of atoms across the surface when two surfaces made contact and moved.
