Since 1018 hot roll is a very good carburizing steel, it is especially suitable for parts requiring high surface hardness with a relatively soft core, such as gears and pinions, worms, ratchets, dogs, oil tool slips, pins, chain pins, liners, studs, anchor pins, special bolts, tie rods, machinery parts, etc.
