Stressproof ® Ground and Polished rounds is a carbon-manganese grade which is severely cold worked to produce high tensile properties. The bars are specially treated to relieve the stresses set up by the cold drawing, thus minimizing the tendency towards warpage after machining which is common in ordinary cold drawn bars. They are futher improved by grinding to a tight tolerance and polished for a smooth surface finish. Stressproof ® Ground and Polished bars have a built-in high strength hardness, without the need of heat treatment. Stressproof ® Ground and Polished rounds have the combination of free machinability, minimum warpage, high strength, and wearability not found in ordinary metals. Stressproof ® is a registered trademark of the LaSalle Steel Co.

Stressproof® cold roll rounds conforms to ASTM A311 Class B, ASTM A108
| Condition | Tensile Strength (PSI) | Yield Strength (PSI) | Reduction of Area | Elongation in 2" | Brinell Hardness |
| Thur 2" | 100,000 | 115,000 | 25 | 8 | 26 |
| Over 2" Thru 3" | 100,000 | 115,000 | 20 | 8 | 25 |
| Over 3" | 100,000 | 115,000 | 20 | 7 | 24 |
The above values are minimum requirements of ASTM A311 Class B
Applications for Stressproof® G&P rounds are many, including cold punched nuts, split rivets, machine and wood screws, arbors, keyed shafts, motor shafts, splined shafts, drive-shafts, armature shafts, rotary pump shafts, gusher pump shafts, oil and water pump shafts, wrist pins, pinions, piston rods, arbors, spindles, gears, sleeves, lead screws, racks, link pins, mandrels, boring bars, collets, bushings, etc.
Machinability is rated at 83% of B1112. Average cutting speed 140 ft/min. Because of a very high sulphur content, weldability is considered poor and not recommended.
